Blue and Grey for a Pretty French Farmhouse Bedroom

Some of you may know that I do makeovers as part of my HomeGoods
association with their Pinterest Designer team for our #HappybyDesign board.
Its been a lot of fun for me to have two places to shop for my client's
makeovers.  After all, I can shop at my store, Maison Decor as well as HomeGoods
to get just about everything I need to do a successful makeover.
This was how Mary's bedroom looked when I came to take a look.  She really
hadn't put much into her room, and it had a utilitarian spareness about it.
Mary gave me cart blanche to go ahead and do whatever I wanted!
Since I had done some work for her before, I was pretty sure I knew
what would make her happy.  After doing a Q & A with Mary, I set off to
HomeGoods to get the basics and lots of accessories for her room.
Three shopping carts later....see how my HomeGoods puts a bright green
sign "Customer Shopping" in my full cart when I park it near the
customer service desk so I can go fill up another one?  Thats so no one will
steal all my goodies that I have so carefully assembled.
When I returned Mary had the room stripped down to bare bones.
After I was finished this was the result!
I found high end designer bedding at HomeGoods in a blue and white
floral that set the inspiration starting point for the room.
This fabulous grey wooden carved mirror with a slightly distressed finish
was the other inspiration point that was key to Mary's room design.
Mixing grey with the blue and white against her pale aqua walls would
make for an elegant color palette.
Here is the beautiful wooden bed that was just waiting to be dressed.
This was how it was the day I came to take a look.
Pretty blah and nothing special, right?
Here is the after! The blue and white soft floral bedding was just the ticket.
I added large soft grey euroshams in the back against the tall headboard.
The grey carved mirror reflects the pretty headboard, and I chose grey linen
sheers from Maison Decor to hang at the windows.  White crisp sheets were
also in my shopping cart and will be added.  All of these pics are from my iphone,
so when I return to take proper photos, the bedding will be fully assembled
and I will share a the finished look next week hopefully.
Its tough scheduling it all in, when I am running a store and then
trying to open another store with my son in Boston all at the same time!
The grey linen sheers will likely get hemmed at some point.
I tied them in the center with our Maison Decor aqua blue burlap wired ribbon
for a casual look.  Mary's windows have wood blinds for privacy.
A neat little metal table was the perfect addition to the small
space to the left of the window.  I added lined washed willow baskets
to each shelf.  Mary can stash scarves and belts in each basket
as it is right next to her closet door (unseen in photo on left).
Little touches around the room give it a personalized feel.
Mary will add a family photo in the shabby chic style frame.
Frames and candles are nice ways to add accents to most any space.
I also spruced up Mary's bathroom.  Using dishes or bowls from the kitchen
department of HomeGoods is a good place to look when I want a unique way
to hold items, like soaps or jewelry.  Don't forget to shop other departments
for everyday needs so your home accents are not run of the mill.
A bit more pampering for Mary including filling up a rustic
french style wooden tray tote with pretty lotions and soaps.
Mix and match items like the glass covered container to hold
Qtips or cotton balls, and you will have yourself a spa in tray
without much effort.  I will share the bathroom later too~
because right now I have to get to work!!!
